Environment and health regulation
Council staff deal with issues relating to public health and the environment - proactively by education programs and inspection, to ensure prescribed health standards are being met; and reactively by investiging and resolving reported problems.

1. Activities that must be registered by council
(no fee)
- Food businesses - including temporary food premises and home caterers
- Skin penetration procedures - including ear piercing, acupuncturists, tattooists and depilation
- Hairdressers and beauty salons
- Microbial control – includes cooling towers and warm water systems
- Mortuaries.
2. Activities which must be approved by council
- Operating a caravan park
- Operating a mobile food vending vehicle
- Installing and operating a sewage management facility
- Installing and operating a greywater treatment system
- Installing a greywater diversion device.
